tcap testing bulletin board

Another one of my co-workers fantatstic creations for our TCAP testing week!  Every day we put a check on the bases based on what test had been taken.  The teachers put pictures of the students on their baseball!  ADORABLE!
TCAP BUSTERS! We're going to do our best to bust the test!

Metro Trash Truck Competition!

In the fall there was a Metro Trash Truck Competition!  In honor of Earth Day month I thought it would be appropriate to have this post!  The students all drew pictures on how to protect the  earth.  Our school had two students who were chosen to have their artwork on a trash truck!  This is one of my 4th graders Emilia who always gives A worthy art!  So proud of her!
Here are Mrs. Staehling and I with Emilia!
She received the Red River Award of Distinction!
What an honor!

Kroger Bag Earth Day Art Lesson!

We are doing Earth Day bags in partnership with Kroger.  Our students decorate them for Earth  Day then we give them to Kroger and they distribute them on Earth Day!  Here are some in the process!  I will keep you updated on some of the finished ones!

ANDY GOLDSWORTHY EARTH DAY ART LESSON!

<---Andy
On Friday's all my classes repeat, therefore I like to give those students a different more tangible lesson!  We  have been doing Earth Day bags for Kroger (we decorate the bags and give them back for Earth day for them to distribute) so I wanted to extend the lesson with an Andy Goldsworthy lesson.  He is a really awesome nature artist.  I got this quote from his website: "Andy Goldsworthy is an extraordinary, innovative British artist whose collaborations with nature produce uniquely personal and intense artworks. "  http://www.ucblueash.edu/artcomm/web/w2005_2006/maria_Goldsworthy/biography.html

My students went outside and gathered nature and created beautiful natural art!
 GO EARTH DAY!

3rd Grade Art Lesson: Chinese Dragons! Integrating art and math lesson

The other art teacher at Shayne, Julie Staehling, had the great idea to hang them with fishing line from the ceiling!  They look fantastic and brighten up the hallway! This is a good lesson to teach symmetry and add in that math!

4th Grade Art Lesson: Della Wells Silhouette Portraits

Our students used Della Wells as inspiration to create Self Portraits.  We traced their silhouette  and they filled it with things that describe themselves.  Della used things around her house to add 3-D effects so we asked the students to do the same!  I am very happy with how these turned out!
